Thoughts on the game

Originally I was going to just do things on the game but I expect that it will expand out into other areas of my day-to-day existence.

Thought it'd be nice to immoralise piratejock in cyberspace, so bought the domain name this afternoon ... a snip at £7 for 2 years.

After a couple of attempts at trying to map the Google Site to the web address, it works!  What had me foxed was sorting out the DNS CName setting.  You have to (i) remove the default www setting and (ii )replace with a non-intuitive Google Site address as a CName (ghs.google.com. - and rather strangely you HAVE TO put in the final fullstop).

Anyway it makes finding the site much easier - and not only for the myriads of visitors I expect I'll get ... have you ever tried finding an easy way to search for your own site on Google Sites?

What a difference and what does it mean?

Currently playing same map (Bocage Village) as the same side (Allies) at roughly the same stage ... and getting totally annihilated in one and, at the moment anyway, managing to hold my own in the other.  Both players know what they are doing - I'll not name them to save embarrassment :) - and while there are differences in their approaches it's amazing the effect on my side.  Of course there was some luck involved - got clobbered by a couple of airstrikes in one game - but once it's over I'll need to work out what happened and why ... or am I over complicating things?

Tournament play

Played in the first BA tournament run by paulolszanzki2 - got knocked out in the first round !  This was a straight knockout style tourney.

A second player-lead competition is ongoing which is based on a Duplicate Bridge format; being run by SailingGuy.  The tournament is currently on Round 3.  12 players, split into Allies and Axis flights of 6, are battling it out.  After first 2 rounds in the desert we're off to Normandy for a couple of games and then the snowy Ardennes to complete the round-robin aspect.  The top player from each flight then plays 3 battles to decide the overall tournament winner.

The plan for this section of the site is to use as a blog-type page to drop in random thoughts on the game
